Josh Dean
Josh Dean is a journalist, author, entrepreneur, and podcast host based in Brooklyn, New York. He is a longtime magazine feature writer, the co-founder of the acclaimed podcast studio Campside Media, and the author of THE TAKING OF K-129," published by Dutton/Penguin in September 2017, and SHOW DOG, published by HarperCollins/IT Books in February of 2012.
As a magazine writer, he has written for many, many magazines, including Rolling Stone, New York, and Esquire. He was a correspondent for Outside, and a regular contributor to Bloomberg Businessweek, GQ, and Popular Science, among others, as well as one of the founding editors of PLAY, The New York Times Sports Magazine.
As a podcast host and executive, Josh co-created the global hit, The Clearing, in 2019, and then co-founded Campside Media with the journalists Matthew Shaer and Vanessa Grigoriadis, and the screenwriter/producer Adam Hoff. At Campside, he co-created and hosted Chameleon: Hollywood Con Queen, White Devil, and Hooked, which was nominated for a 2021 Podcast of the Year award by the Podcast Academy. You can hear him now, every week, as the host of Chameleon, co-produced with Audiochuck, and alongside comedian Rory Scovel as the co-host of Crimeless, co-produced with Smartless Media and Big Money Players.
Finally, if that face looks familiar, yes, that was Josh on Joe Berlinger's Netflix Series, "Crime Scene: Vanishing at the Cecil Hotel." The series was inspired by Josh’s reporting on Elisa Lam and her tragic story, which was published by Medium's now defunct Matter, back in 2015.
